Are you sure they don't mean 100% in pushups and situps? Which translates to the 71/78 that jimmy_legs mentioned.Īre you currently in the army, or do you have Ranger school as part of your initial entry contract? And if it's a part of your entry contract, are you sure it's Ranger school, not RASP (or RIP, or ROPE, or whatever they're calling it these days)? Honestly, if you're trying to prepare for Ranger school, the things that are going to serve you best are training to make solid numbers on the initial gates, but not to the detriment of more important things.
I don't know what type of crack they're smoking, but 100 of each is not a necessary or (for most) realistic goal. Along with that I suppose it's worth mentioning the 12mi ruck is no joke either. Start ruckin' long distances and be comfortable with your feet on fire. What I would do is start preparing for things that would make your life easier at Ranger school though. Something like a 4, 6, 5, and 8 (mon, tue, wed, thur) at a very convenient pace. If your 5's at 50 right now try to run long ones every week. Don't crush yourself and enter a world of pain as if you're preparing for a marathon. Just hit up some running blogs and pickup a running regimen that you think you'll enjoy. As long as you can hit the 5 mile in less than 40 you're good for the fitness test. I feel like they know the push-ups and sit-ups are kind of a worthless benchmark. As long as you look like your bangin' them out with the correct form after about 20-25 they just tell you to get up and go. The R.I's don't even count when you do the push ups and sit ups. I am very interested in your military insight so please keep posting it, but please don't get too caught up on the 100 pushups/sit ups, it is just a goal of mine. Which is what I want to do since I have the time for it.Īnd my main question was "Is it alright to use the program that I posted and cycle it every time I finish it." But there are numerous sites that state that it would be wise to train for those levels.
A lot of you are getting caught up on my error in typing stating that those 100 reps of each are REQUIREMENTS. What I'm wondering since I have a little over a year to train for the School, should I keep performing cycles of this program until I can complete everything or should I first improve what I can't do in this program and then attempt it?ĮDIT: You guys have been helpful. (I am looking at the 90 day cycle listed at the bottom of this PDF) I came across this program designed by the Army for Army Ranger School prep, but my only issue is that, while I can perform almost everything here, there are some things I can't like run 5 miles in 40 minutes, more like 50 minutes right now.
So I am looking to improve my fitness levels to the standards required, recommended, so that you would considered forstruggle less, physically, at Army Ranger School.
